Welcome to Kelly Jo Travels! I started this blog as a way for friends and family to follow me on my adventures overseas. In January of 2017 I made the decision that at the end of the school year I would leave my job as a high school athletic director and coach to pursue a life long dream of travel and service work. It was a difficult decision. Leaving friends who were more like family and the security of a paycheck was hard! Plus I was living in Carmel and working in Pebble Beach, California…life was pretty cozy and comfortable. Yet despite a great job, amazing friends and colleagues, and being surrounded by beautiful scenery, I felt a stirring in my soul for change. I yearned to travel, immerse myself in cultures different from my own, and give back. I wanted to be a global citizen.
